Deadbeat Motel

A visual novel where the player inherits a failing motel and works to raise it from one to five stars before debt collectors take it away. Narrative decisions and minigames improve four parameters that shape the story's variations and ending.

SYSTEMS:

  • Hotel rating — four parameters (quality, staff, reputation, profit), each tied to specific minigames and choices affect story variations and the ending.

  • Repairs — a drag-and-drop puzzle where players reassemble broken furniture and fixtures by placing pieces into the correct positions.

  • Reception — a check-in desk game where players compare guest documents against reservations and decide whether to accept or turn each guest away.

  • Cleaning — a room cleaning minigame where players drag tools across surfaces to remove dirt zone by zone.

  • Management — a time-management minigame where the player moves between points on a map to check in guests, deliver orders, and clean rooms; tasks automate as hotel rating parameters improve.
