Hellfire Rhythm Game

A 3D side-scroller where a broke musician makes a dangerous deal with a demonic guitar chasing fame for his band. Players explore an interactive city, gather song ideas, craft tracks, rehearse, and perform concerts. Every choice — to embrace the demon, resist it, or stay true to yourself — shapes the story's direction and ending.

SYSTEMS:

  • City exploration — a 3D side-scroller map I designed using team-prepared and downloaded assets, placing props and lighting to build a living city environment

  • Idea collection — players gather idea fragments from story events, environment interactions, and city encounters, and form them into a complete song idea.

  • Song crafting — a drag-and-drop window where players combine three components (vocals, beat, instruments) onto tracks, align their timing, and preview the result; different combinations produce different quality outcomes.

  • Rhythm game — a vertical scrolling rhythm game played during rehearsals and concerts, players earn a star rating based on accuracy and timing.

  • Branching choices — dialogue decisions and QTEs push the band's identity toward one of three archetypes: chaos, authenticity, or popularity, shaping both immediate scenes and the final ending.
