Rural Festival
A visual novel set in rural Alabama, where the player works to win back a festival title taken by a former friend. Between story scenes, the farm opens up as a free space to explore, train, and interact with characters. Skills practiced on the farm carry directly into festival competition events.
SYSTEMS:
Two modes of play — the game alternates between linear story scenes with dialogue and choices, and open farm segments where players move freely between locations, train, and interact with characters
Training minigames — four skills practiced on the farm: shooting (accuracy), wrestling (reaction), mechanical bull riding (balance), and manual work (sustained input). Performance in training carries over into festival competition events
Relationship bars — two visible meters, attraction and suspicion, where every choice is a risk-reward tradeoff that shapes the content and ending the player receives
